Your Valuable Team at the Helm

What many people don’t expect when they work with us — we’re human too. We’ve all made our fair share of mistakes in this world; many of these mistakes helped us become the competent advisors we are today.

Without these lessons, we would be left referencing textbook material and subjective news commentary, and that’s no way to run a business. Our hope for every one of our clients is that after each meeting, you’ll feel more confident and rest assured that your money is here to be an engine of opportunity.

Mike's passion for financial planning all began at his family's company, High Falls Advisors, founded in 1986 by his father-in-law, Jim McBride.  After working as the Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for High Falls Advisors, Mike decided that while he was in the right industry, it was time to start his own practice. He joined a small RIA and grew his passion and business.  While there, he started to formulate a vision for what his perfect firm could look like, and the idea for T.R.U.E Financial Guides was born.

Since then, he continues to work with the Kodak community as an expert with Kodak retirement planning for individuals, couples and families of all backgrounds and ages.  Mike serves as a "T.R.U.E Financial Guide" for individuals and businesses maintaining his background as an Accredited Wealth Management Advisor℠. Mike's personal practice is focused on investment management and financial planning. He provides personal and objective advice on retirement income planning, Social Security planning, estate planning, investment allocation, Medicare supplemental planning, and tax-related matters.

Everyday, he finds new ways to better serve his clients. With a team that shares the same values and vision as he does, there is no doubt T.R.U.E Financial Guides will continue to grow and make a real difference in the community.

Mike is no stranger to working in the community.  He has served on the board for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF, Nominating Committee.  Currently he resides in Hilton, New York with his wife and two children where Mike is an active member at Hope Lutheran church in Greece, NY. In his spare time, you will find Mike coaching baseball for his son's team, surfing, fishing, boating, and alpine skiing.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with double majors in Political Science and International Studies from SUNY Brockport graduating with honors.  He also holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from University of Buffalo, where he was awarded the Schamberg fellowship for Academic Excellence. In addition, Mike has a NYS teaching certificate in Technology Education and a Building Administrator license.  Mike also has an advanced certificate in Strategic Leadership from Canisius College.  Mike holds Series 7 and Series 66 Securities Licenses and is an Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA) from the College for Financial Planning.  Mike maintains a NYS Life Accident and Health Insurance license as well.

Learn More About Me

What’s the most likely place people could find you on a Saturday night?
At my house eating pizza and wings enjoying a baseball game, football game or watching a good comedy with my family.

Which would you pick: Living on the beach or living near the mountains?
Live on the beach in the summer and near the mountains in the winter.

Imagine being approached by a genie who offers you three wishes. What might those wishes be?
I’d wish for a rocket-fast metabolism, an amazing memory and perfect health for my family.

If you had the ability to travel back in time, what’s something you would tell your 18-year-old self?
Slow down — live in the moment and enjoy the time you have.

Melissa has worked in client relations for many years, beginning as a Client Service Associate then later transitioning to more project management-based work. Over time, she has realized she is happiest when helping clients have the best experience possible. In addition to serving in the education industry, she joined T.R.U.E Financial Guides to get back to her roots and establish a career that she genuinely enjoys.

Everyday, she is clients’ first point-of-contact for any issues, questions or concerns they may have. Her favorite part about the job is when short-term clients become long-term clients. Oftentimes, she meets clients when they’re in a pretty vulnerable position. However, over time, our advice and guidance eases their fears and alleviates their frustrations, allowing them to genuinely enjoy the experience.

In her free time, you can find her reading, teaching Karate and traveling with her husband, Chris.
